General Settings
Overview
The General settings contain the shared Google Maps configuration and the address-autocomplete controls used while administrators, employers, and candidates enter locations.
License management and location maintenance are separate in version 3.0. Use the License tab to manage the license and the Tools tab to migrate or repair location records.
Job General settings
Go to Job Listings → Settings → Geolocation → General.
The Jobs General tab is the primary location for the Browser API Key, Server API Key test, Google Maps country and language, and job-location autocomplete options.
Google Maps API keys
Browser API Key (Required)
The Browser API Key is used by public and administrative browser-side features including map rendering, address autocomplete, map markers, and reverse geocoding after a visitor uses the locator.
Use a website-restricted key configured for the site’s production and staging domains. See Generating Google Maps API Keys for the required services and restrictions.
Server API Key (Required)
The Server API Key is used by WP Job Manager and WP Job Manager Geolocation for private, server-side geocoding. This includes geocoding saved job or resume locations, converting a free-text location search when coordinates are not already available, and the optional geocoding pass in the missing-location repair tool. WP Job Manager owns this value, so edit it under Job Listings → Settings → General.
The Geolocation General tab displays the current key as read-only and provides a Test API Key button. The test sends a server-side Geocoding API request. A successful test confirms that this key can reach the Geocoding API from the server; it does not test the Browser API Key, map rendering, or Places autocomplete.
Country and language
Google Maps Country Code
Select the country used to bias Google Maps behavior. The default is United States.
Google Maps Language
Select the language used by Google Maps and autocomplete. The default is English.
Address autocomplete
Address Autocomplete (admin)
Enables Google-powered suggestions in the location field while an administrator adds or edits a job. It is enabled by default.
Address Autocomplete (front-end)
Enables suggestions in the front-end job submission form. It is enabled by default.
Autocomplete Countries
Optionally restrict suggestions to as many as 15 countries. Leave the setting empty to allow suggestions from all countries.
Resume General settings
Resume integration is available in Pro and requires the separately installed WP Job Manager Resume Manager extension.
Go to Resumes → Settings → Geolocation → General to enable or disable autocomplete on the administrator and front-end resume fields and to select resume autocomplete countries.
The Browser API Key, Server API Key, country, and language remain site-wide values managed from the Job Listings settings; they are not duplicated in the Resume General tab.
