General Settings

Last modified: January 27, 2026

Introduction

The WP Job Manager Geolocation General Settings page contains the core configuration options used to enable and control geolocation features across job and resume listings.

These settings manage license activation, Google Maps API integration, address autocomplete behavior, and default geocoding preferences. Unless noted otherwise, the options described here apply to both job listings and resume listings.

Accessing This Settings Page

The Search & Map settings are located inside the WP Job Manager settings panel. To access this page, go to:

Dashboard → Job Listings (or Resumes) → Settings → Geolocation → General

The same settings structure and options apply to both job and resume search pages.

General Settings Options

1. License Status

This section displays the current status of your WP Job Manager Geolocation license. An active license enables automatic updates and premium support.

Use the Manage License button to activate, deactivate, or update your license key.

2. Import Locations

The Import Locations tool scans your existing job or resume listings and creates missing geolocation entries in the database.

This is useful if:

  • The plugin was installed after jobs or resumes were already created
  • Some listings failed to sync location data correctly
  • You imported listings from another site or plugin

Existing location data will not be overwritten.

3. Google Maps API Keys

Browser API Key (Required)

The Browser API Key is required for all client-side functionality, including:

  • Google Maps rendering
  • Address autocomplete
  • Map interactions and markers
  • Proximity-based search features

This key must be configured as a browser-restricted (HTTP referrer) key in Google Cloud.

Server API Key (Required)

The Server API Key is used for server-side geocoding when job or resume locations are created or updated.

This key is managed by WP Job Manager itself and is configured under:

Dashboard → Job Listings → Settings → General

It must be configured as an IP-restricted key and requires only the Geocoding API.

This Server API Key is separate from the Browser API Key used by WP Job Manager Geolocation.

4. Google Maps Region & Language

Google Maps Country Code

Sets the default country used to bias Google Maps geocoding and autocomplete results. Use a two-letter ISO country code such as US, CA, or AU.

Google Maps Language

Determines the language used by Google Maps, autocomplete suggestions, and geocoding responses. Use standard language codes like en, es, or fr.

5. Address Autocomplete

Address Autocomplete (Admin)

Enables Google-powered address suggestions when entering a location on the admin add/edit job or resume screen.

Address Autocomplete (Front-End)

Enables address autocomplete on front-end job and resume submission forms. This improves user experience and ensures cleaner, more accurate location data.

Autocomplete Countries

Optionally limit autocomplete suggestions to specific countries. You may select up to 15 countries.

Leave this field empty to allow suggestions from all countries.

How to Use These Options

  1. Activate your license to enable updates and support.
  2. Enter a valid Browser API Key for maps and autocomplete.
  3. Ensure a Server API Key is configured in WP Job Manager for geocoding.
  4. Set the default country and language for more accurate results.
  5. Enable address autocomplete where appropriate for your workflow.
